How long do the puppy training classes run for?
They run for 50 minutes.
Do I need to bring anything?
All of our puppy training is based on positive reinforcement so we advise you to bring some treats. Something yummy and broken up into very small pieces. So long as your dog hasn’t got any allergies we advise things like chicken or training pate. Also a bowl for your dog so that you can fill it up with some water, training can be thirsty work! You could invest in a dog water bottle which means you can fill it up at home and bring with you. We also advise you bring your dogs bed or a blanket for them to sit on.
What will my puppy learn?
We cover lots of vital topics which will help set your puppy up for adulthood. Some of the topics we cover are calming techniques, bite inhibition (mouthing), recall, lead walking, socialisation (to dogs, textures, people, noises etc) basic cues (sit, down etc), focus work, preventing resource guarding developing, preventing jumping up, health checking and handling.
Will my puppy socialise?
We do cover socialisation in the course. When possible we also have some off lead structured and monitored play at the end of the classes. We match the puppies up with each other.
Will my puppy be able to attend further training after the course finishes?
We run lots of progression courses and we also offer one-to-one training, as well as agility classes. Also, if there is something you are interested in that we do not offer then we can point you in the right direction of accredited trainers which will be able to help.
Can I bring someone with me?
Of course! This did change during covid however we are back to welcoming other family members to attend the classes.
Is there wheelchair access?
Yes there is!
Are classes indoors?
Classes are indoors however weather permitting we do head outside to cover our recall and lead walking work. Also if the weather is nice we may opt to do some of the session outdoors.
What happens if my puppy needs the loo?
If you notice your puppy might need the loo, head outside and practice toilet training! If there have an accident inside don’t worry we are prepared with paper towel and cleaning solutions
